China Glaze Vintage Vixen Collection 2010 - Swatches and Review

Today I have for you one of the most exciting collections for this fall - the China Glaze Vintage Vixen Collection! Every year it is the same with me. I can´t wait for their fall collections because they always come with such pretty shades. Remember the Rodeo Diva Collection from 2008? Well that is my favourite nail polish collection ever :) So lets have a look at the newest one.

The collection is inspired by the 40s. The official description says: "For Fall 2010, the China Glaze Vintage Vixen Collection captures the vivid and saturated hues of the 1940’s with this seductively complex palette. These classic shades of the season recreate the timeless tableau of movie land mystique, perfect red pouts and steamy nights where swing was the scene!"

What a great era to be inspired with! Again, this collections has a total of twelve shades that come in two sets. Of course the polishes can be bought separately. Here they are:

The swatches are all without a base or top coat and are in natural daylight (no sun or lightbox).

You can watch my video of the collection here.

JITTERBUG
A beautiful black/grey foil metallic. It shines so much, looks like a shiny stone. One of my favourites. Two coats.

BOGIE
It is always hard to say which shade from a collection is the best for me but I think it is this one. Love at first sight. Not only is the shade really beautiful but the application was flawless and it is very richly pigmented. One coat could have been just fine, I did two. Get this one!

HEY DOLL
The name and the shade make this polish so girly. It is soft and elegant but still not boring for me. Great color for fall. Two coats again here.

FOXY
This is such a beautiful fall shade. Reminds me of the falling leaves. Red with golden shimmer. Two coats.

INGRID
Another contribution to the taupe trend and a very pretty one! It has very soft golden shimmer. Two coats.

SWING BABY
The second foil of the collection. This time it is a champagne. The only polish from the whole collection I used three coats.

GOIN' MY WAY?
Warm metallic bronze. Very pretty and very well pigmented. Can´t wait to do a full mani with this one when fall comes. Two coats.

RIVETER ROUGE
Bright red with silver micro glitter. As with all the swatches this is without a top coat which you might want to use to sooth down the rough surface. Two coats.

CLASSIC CAMEL
The name says it all. First thing that comes to my mind when i look at this polish is a camel. I think this is the most unique color of the whole collection. I really like the golden flecks it has. This color will not suit all skin tones though. Two coats.

EMERALD FITZGERALD
One of my favourites. A beautiful green that leans to the blue side. What else could I want? Just look at the depth of the polish. Two coats.

MIDNIGHT MISSION
Like a starry sky. Beautiful glossy blue with silver glitter. The glitter is very soft and easy to remove. So so pretty!! Two coats.

FIRST CLASS TICKET
What fall collection would it be without a purple! And what a beautiful one. Dark but not too much. A bit more to the blue side but it still is purple. I saw some pictures of it looking almost blue but it isn´t. Love the depth of this one.

Well this is it. All twelve of the polishes from the Vintage Vixen Collection which should launch in July 2010. I really like the choice of colors and the formula on most of these. They were all but one two coaters and I didn´t have any major application problems. It will sound crazy but I can´t wait for fall to come! :)

Let me know what you think about the collection? Any must haves?

Gabriella Salvete 117

Two days ago I bought this polish from a czech drustore brand. I mean, I just couldn´t leave it there. It looked like holo awesomeness in the bottle (detail on the left picture)! Sadly not on the nail :( It looks like black with silver glitter. I am not very happy with this polish. The surface is rough and you can´t see the holo much. Too bad...

Because I just wanted something holographic I added a bit of Nfu Oh 63. This was real quick, I am sure if you take your time you can make beautiful designs with it :)

China Glaze Blk-Bila-Bong (Surf Collection 2007)

I love this shade. Now my story could just end there, but it is not so easy. I don´t like two things about this polish. The first is the fact that it needs three coats but for the color no problem, I can handle that. The second problem is what bugs me. TIPWEAR! After one day I have to take it off :( Do you have the same problem? But still that doesn´t prevent me from loving this shade so much. Lovely blue shimmer in a black base.

ManGlaze nail art

Yesterday I had time to play with my polishes a bit more, so I tried to do a ruffian mani using Color Club Ultra Violet and ManGlaze Matte is Murder. I have never made one before, so as one could expect, it ended up as a major fail :( Well nobody is perfect. I tried to hide the imperfections with some stamping and actually like it like this a lot!

What do you think? Any tips and tricks how to do a nice ruffian are welcome :)

Nfu Oh 50 over black

My first post only in english, what a relief. I really apologise to my czech reades, but I am just too lazy to continue writing in both languages. The good news is, that I will try to write more in english, not just only I like it or I don´t and how many coats. I think this will be better for both sides. So today I have for you another layering mani with Nfu Oh 50. Can´t believe I still haven´t tried it over black! The purple base dissapears and you see only flakies that turn from blue to green. So the effect is similar to Nfu Oh 52 over black, but that looks more green as you can have a look here.

Look at how the color changes from blue to green. Stunning!

New Eyeko Polishes - Swatches and Review

Eyeko recently launched five new shades of nail polish and I had the opportunity to try them out. So let´s have  look at them :) All swatches are no base coat and no top coat.

Petite Polish
Classic sheer french pink. I don´t wear polishes like this and I don´t like french manis, so this one was nothing for me. On the pictures I have three coats, sorry about the ugly nails :(

Tea Rose Polish
Now this is a very pretty shade, I like it a lot. It was a bit on the thick side, but nothing major. Covered very nicely in just one coat.

Moc pěkný odstín. Trošku hustší konzistence, ale nic zásadního. Pěně kryl v jedné vrstvě.

Coral Polish
Super bright coral creme. This one will be great for summer! Again a bit thick and needed three coats. I don´t have a nice coral in my collection, so I am glad I have this one now.

Zářivá korálová, bude perfektní na léto! opět trošku hustší, tentokrát ale byly potřeba tři vrstvy.

Posh Polish
At last a nice taupe that goes well with my skin tone. I am sure this will be a very wanted shade. The great thing is you need just one coat, I love that :)

Pěkná taupe barvička (překládat tenhle odstín nebudu ani zkoušet). Myslím, že bude hodně populární. Super je, že stačí jen jedna vrstva.

Vampira Polish
The winner! I love it...red glitter in a black base. Does it remind you of something? Yes, it is very close to China Glaze Lubu Heels, but for me better. It is more opaque and covers in just two coats (in need three for Lubu Heels). I will make a full mani with this one, really lovely.

Comparison: Lubu Heels (index and ring) versus Vampira (middle and pinkie)

Overall nice collection of colors. I think everyone will pick at least one shade. If you like french manis, you will go for Petite and if you are a bad girl, you will grab Vampira. I also think that the formula of these improved, they are much more pigmented and not sheer and streaky.

Celkově pěkná kolekce barev. Na své si přijdou milovnice nudných francií i zlobivé holky. Pozitivní je i vylepšená konzistence laků, jsou mnohem více pigmentované, nejsou řídké a neproužkují.

ManGlaze Week Day 1: Matte Is Murder

As I promised, this week will be ManGlaze week! I am starting with their new improved black matte nail polish which replaced The Death Tar. Matte is Murder is a very black matte with shimmer. It was very easy to work with, applied smoothly and evenly (not like the OPI matte collection which was a disaster) and needed just two coats. As all matte polishes even this one dries quick, but you have enough time for your application. In fact I think these are the best mattes I tried. I am really impressed with the quality and the matte effect! This polish is just perfect on its own, but I am also showing it to you with a top coat. You can buy it here for an evil price $6.66.

OPI Baby It’s "Coal" Outside (with CND Amethyst Sparkle)

It is freezing outside so I thought this polish would be appropriate :) I love the name of this one. This polish is a beautiful black with silverish glitter. It needs just two coats. I added one coat of CND Amethyst Sparkle and it looks even better :)
