Color Club Cast A Spell Mini Collection

Halloween is just around the corner! (OK not really, but still!) I love Halloween. I love eating candy corn and I just love Halloween! I can't wait to do my Halloween manis! Got so many ideas thanks to other bloggers! But for now I have Color Club's Cast A Spell Mini collection.

Hocus Pocus is a semi-sheer base with holographic glitters. This was done in 3 coats

Spellbound is a bright neon orange creme. VERY bright

Charmed I'm Sure is a blurple shimmer. It's more purple in real life, but we all know the cases of cameras.

Bewitching is a black creme. Fully opaque in one coat. Sounds like a good polish to use for konads!

The formulas were nice. It was just a little hard for me to use since I have long fingers, and the tiny little bottle cap was hard for me to hold. Other than that no complaints!

And that is all I have for today!

Holographic Gone Chic

Hi all!

Those of you who follow me on twitter, might have seen a little preview of this since I uploaded a sneak peek of this manicure yesterday, but if not; I have a konadicure for you! I really like it, I'm loving these kind of patterns. Anyway, enough with the babbeling, on to the pics!

Worth The Risque is a silver holographic polish, and you have to believe me when I say the holo shows up more in real life.

The Bundle Monster plates are really nice, but they do have one downside. Because there are more images on one plate, the images are smaller. This is a full nail plate, but I had to stamp all my fingernails at least twice - even my pinkie! But the design is lovely and double stamping worked out in the end :)

And, because I like this so much, two more bonus pics!

What do you think of this konadicure?

China Glaze DV8

Hi all!

Whew it's getting hot in The Netherlands! Hot and sunny means.. Holographic polishes! They look stunning in sunlight and for this occasion I decided to pull out China Glaze DV8, which I bought when I went polish hunting at the China Glaze wholesale.

china glaze omg collection holographic DV8 tealChina Glaze DV8, two coats in the shade. DV8 is a stunning teal holographic polish that is opaque in two smooth coats. The polish can show you ridges since it's kinda 'flat' on the nails (I don't know how to describe this properly) so you might need to use a good ridgefiller before you paint your nails.

What's a holo without sunlight? Right, nothing!

china glaze dv8 omg collection holographic tealchina glaze omg collection holographic holo teal dv8China Glaze DV8, two coats in indirect and direct sunlight. Shiiiiiiiine! Me likez! Personally, I prefer the finish of the Kaleidoscopes over these, but it still is pretty.

Application was good, since the structure of this polish is just right and dries quickly. DV8 is part of the China Glaze OMG collection that contains 11 other holographic polishes.

Franken - Potter's Purple

Hi all!

So today I have something for you that was a gift from my friend Michelle. She made me a beautiful franken so that's what I'm going to show you today!

Potter's Purple, three coats in indirect sunlight. Do you see Michelle? I made you a label! :D Potter's purple is a medium purple, dusty holographic polish with aqua/blue colored flakies. Can you see she combined the things that I love in polish to make one awesome one? It's not too holo, just how I like it.. She even named it after my favorite book/movie series; Harry Potter. I'm a real Harry Potter nerd as you'll probably have noticed so the name suits perfectly as well :)

Let's take a look at some more pics! I took a couple, they're reflecting the process from "in the shadow" to "in full sunlight". Please click on the pictures to enlarge!

Is that gorgeous or what?!

Application was good! The polish was easy to work with and drying time was fairly quick.. I can't think of any downside of this polish! Michelle, you made me an awesome polish and I will definitely be wearing this a lot <3 Now, if you'll excuse me.. I'm off to a bit of staring at my polish in the sun ;)

China Glaze Visit Me In Prism

Hi all!

How are you all doing? I hope you are all fine! The working week is almost over, so we'll have a long weekend ahead of us and it seems like the weather fairies are playing along - yay! Today I have a slightly older polish for you from a 2006 Collection from China Glaze: The Kaleidoscope Collection. I wasn't really into holographic polishes and I don't like the Nfu Oh holo's, but I LOVE these Kaleidoscopes! I managed to get hold of three of them; Kaleidoscope him out, He's going in Circles and Visit me in Prism. Today I have pictures for you from the latter!

China Glaze Visit Me In Prism, three coats in sunlight. Visit me in Prism is actually more lilac than my picture shows you, as she is a very silver but slighty lilac holograpic (yes, to me this falls in the holographic category) polish. I love the holographic effect that the Kaleidoscopes have:

See that it has more lilac to it? I adore this and I'm sure I will wear it a lot in the summer.

Application was ok; the polish was a bit watery but nothing unmanagable so it went on pretty nicely. Dryingtime was good.

I will be hunting the other Kaleidoscopes down when I see them for sale somewhere.. I want them all! What do you think of the Kaleidoscopes and Visit me in Prism in particular? What's your favorite Kaleidoscope?

Massini Slamming Red

Hi all!

How are you all today? I have a very busy weekend - I'll be off to one of my friends bachelorette party so most of my weekend is covered lol. I have a true stunning color for you today: Massini Slamming Red which I got from lovely Ange (thanks dearie!)

Massini Slamming Red, two coats in daylight. Damn, this is a stunning color! It's a gorgeous red with a hint of pink (or is it a deep pink?) with tons of holograpic glitter and glitter particles. I have to add that I'm wearing three (!!) coats of Nubar Diamont over Slamming Red to get it a little bit smooth.. I'll get to that in a little bit. Let's take a closer look at the polish:

Pretty huh?

There is one (quite big) downside to this polish. It dries gritty as hell! Not a bit gritty no.. I put on three coats of topcoat and it still wasn't smooth. I don't like polishes that aren't smooth, but the color.. It's so pretty! So I had it on my nails for three days anyway. And with the grittyness comes.. Yes. A pain in the ass to remove. Oh my lord! It took me 50 minutes of soaking and scrubbing to get this one off. 50 minutes!

To come to a conclusion: The color is stunning and it dries pretty quickly, but be prepared for grittyness and a painful removing process..

What do you think of Massini Slamming Red?

Playdate Pics! And OPI Over The Taupe

Hi all!

If you're following me on Twitter, you probably know that it was playdate time yesterday! I met up with Michèle from Lacquerized, Karin from Romika's Nails, Michelle from The Lacquer Files and Natasja. We all brought a ton of polishes (though this wasn't nearly everything we own!) and were dazed with the amount of polish on the table. This is what a playdate with five lacquer ladies looks like:

And from a different angle:

Michèle and Karin actually had their polishes in their Helmers, so they are not even all visible in these pics! Woah! Can you imagine us just staring at all the bottles, not knowing which polish to pick?

We all picked a polish to paint our nails with and since this is my nail blog, what would this post be without a pic of our hands and nails?

Clockwise, starting from the top: Michèle - wearing purple H&M Hello Kitty with Sally Hansen Garnet Lapis, Karin - wearing Milani Hi-Tech, Michelle - wearing Hard Candy Mr Wrong with Hard Candy Breakup on top, Natasja - wearing Orly Cashmere Cardigan and me - wearing OPI Over the Taupe.

I'm wearing OPI Over the Taupe as a NOTD (which I borrowed from Michelle - thanks dearie!! <3 ), but I spiced it up a little with some flowery stickers. I actually have some weird kind of bubbeling in my polish, not regular bubbles but very teeny tiny wobbly parts that look like they lay under the polish. Michèle told me she has the same thing. I have no clue what caused this bubbeling.. Anyway, here are some pics of today's manicure!

OPI Over the Taupe, three coats with one coat of Nubar Diamont and flowery stickers. Over the Taupe is a gorgeous taupe creme. I really like this color! I took advantage of all the bottles on the table and it's no dupe of Eyeko's Taupe Polish, Catrice Lost in Mud or Catrice From Dusk To Dawn. Application was good. The polish was a little watery at first, but it all went well in the end.

A little closeup of my ring finger:

It's just the accent to make the color pop! I really like these stickers. I got them as a freebie with an order at Veelnagels/Veelsieraden, a Dutch etailer.

Dear Michèle, Karin, Michelle and Natasja; I had a great time yesterday and I hope you did too! I'm looking forward to the next playdate (Michèle, hurry up with your date picker! ;) )

China Glaze Chrystal Ball

Hi all!

It's a quicky today, so I have more pics than words lol! Today I have China Glaze Chrystal Ball for you. I've been lemming Grape Crush ever since I saw it on MUA and Chrystal Ball has a similar finish so when I saw this one for sale, I grabbed it. It's discontinued, but I don't know when (Will look into that!). On to the pics!

China Glaze Chrystall Ball, three coats in daylight. Chrystal Ball is a medium soft red with holographic particles in the polish. Nice! I really like this finish. It dries a bit gritty though as you can see, so you'll need some topcoat to make her smooth and more shiny. Application on this one was great, as was the drying time. It dried so quickly!

Please note that you can see different colors in the holo particles irl! My camera didn't capture the effect on the nails, but you can see it in the bottle.

I will be searching for Grape Crush, but in the meantime, I'll enjoy myself with Crystal Ball. What do you think of this polish?

OPI DS Extravagance

Hi all!

How are you all today? I hope you are surviving this week! Today I have a gorgeous polish for you again: OPI DS Extravagance. It's my first OPI DS and I'm so glad I have it! Prepare for quite a lot of pics for one polish, because she deserves every single picture I'm posting here!

OPI DS Extravagance, two coats in daylight. Oh my, I absolutely love it!! Extravagance is a red based purple, leaning to magenta. It's not a true holo, but a very subtle one that doesn't give you the full "rainbow effect", but it's a lovely effect and fascinating to look at. It's like the holo wants to break out and show itself, but doesn't know how. Me likey!

I'm actually wearing this one since yesterday as a full mani and I can't stop staring at my nails. I'm staring at them, just checking out the beauty of this polish. It's even worse than when I wore Color Club Revvvolution!

Application was like a dream. The polish went on smoothly and dried quickly. What more can a girl ask for? I barely needed cleanup!

Do you own any of the OPI DS polishes? If so, what are must haves? I'm thinking of buying some more...

Don't forget to enter my Teeny Tiny Giveaway! You have less than two hours to enter in this giveaway.

And a little anouncement: The lovely Michelle from The Lacquer Files started a nail polish forum for us lacquerladies! The forum can be found here: Polished Up!

Milani Hi-Tech

Hi all!

Since the weather is so sunny, I thought a sunny polish would be in order! Holo's are great when the sun is out, and since I had this one from my swap with Laquermanic, I easily made up my mind!

Quite a lot of pics, so be prepared ;)

Milani Hi-Tech, three coats in sunlight (the first picture is taken in indirect sunlight). Milani Hi-Tech is a lime green holo and is not as washed out as my pictures show her. She is more green! She even shows her holoness when she's not in direct sunlight, which is great.

Application was good, way better than application on GOSH Holographic for example. I had no issues with bald spots or something in that order. I really like this polish; it's holo without being too holo and the color of the polish itself is bright, but not too bright - if you know what I mean. Hi-Tech looks a bit dull in the bottle, but comes alive on the nail. Yay!

Hi-Tech is a part of the Milani 3D Holographic Collection. I believe there are 5 more polishes in this collection (Hi-Res, HD, Digital, Cyberspace and 3D), so if you see these in store, check them out!! If I recall this correctly, these polishes aren't available for sale in The Netherlands :(

The Next Best Thing To My Private Jet?

Hi all!

Today I have one of the polishes for you that is said to be a dupe/replacement of OPI's My Private Jet. I'm talking about the brown holo version. I don't own MPJ myself, so if you have it, please let me know if it comes close to the polish I'm about to show you.

The polish I'm talking about is Diamond Cosmetics Chainmail Charm. I bought this one when I didn't even like holo's and I didn't understand all the fuss about holographic polishes. I started to like them more and more, so when the sun came out, so did this polish out of my helmer!

Diamond Cosmetics Chainmail Charm, three coats in daylight/sunlight. The first picture is taken without direct (sun)light hitting the nail, so you can see the color of the polish itself without the holograpic effect. Chainmail Charm is a brown based holographic polish, that is a bit shy in soft daylight but shines in full sun. It was quite hard to capture all the holo and I have to say that I couldn't capture it all, so please note that Chainmail Charm is more holographic than shown in my pics.

Application on this one was fine, I had no problems. Drying time was good. The polish dries glossy and relatively smooth.

After taking those pics (and like a gazillion others), I went outside to take pics in full sun.

Ain't that cute? One of our cats came to check out my nail polish - and camera, obviously. Normally she stays away from my nails because she finds it smelly, but not this time :)

What do you think of Diamond Cosmetics Chainmail Charm? Do you think it comes close to OPI's My Private Jet? Let me know, I want to find out!

Revvvolution Shows Its Holoness!

Hi all!

Eerder heb ik al foto's van Color Club Revvvolution gepost, maar daarop was de holo in de lak niet echt goed te zien. Een tijdje geleden heb ik Revvvolution als full mani gedragen en gelukkig scheen de zon toen!

I posted pics of Color Club Revvvolution earlier, but the pics didn't show the holo in the polish too well. A little while ago, I wore Revvvolution for a full mani and luckily, the sun came out!

Color Club Revvvolution, I believe this was three coats. It shows more holo irl, but that was really hard to capture. In the last picture, there was no direct sunlight hitting the nail.

I already commented on the formula in my other post, so this is it for now :)

Orly Star Of Bombay

Hi all!

Thanks for the sweet comments yesterday! I'm having issues posting replies so I hope I can fix it by implementing another system or something. Just want you to know that I read every single one of your comments and that I really appreciate the fact you visit my blog and even take the time to read my posts and reply to them. You all make it worth while <3 All went well at work today, although it was a slow start.. Just had to repeat everything and I will have to get used to the new system by using the program. All will be fine, I have lovely coworkers who want to help me!

Today I have one of the Orly Gems for you. I have the complete collection, but I don't even know if I've ever worn one of these polishes. Shame on me! Here is one that popped out while I was searching my helmer: Star of Bombay.

Orly Star of Bombay, two coats. Star of Bombay is a blackened dark blue shimmer. The shimmer is a lighter blue and looks gorgeous, but isn't really visible untill light hits it. Application on this one was like a dream. Opaque in two coats - although I think I could have gotten away with one for opacity. This polish went on smooth, not application issues whatsoever. Dryingtime was good as well.

I tried to take pictures in which you could see the pretty shimmer, but the darkness of this polsh as well. I hope I succeeded.. Anyway, when there's not light hitting the polish, it looks black. Just the slightest bit of light is enough to turn her blue again and to show a tiny bit of the shimmer :)

I played a little with Konad, although I wasn't as good at it as normal. I didn't feel like re-doing this though. Michèle from LACQUERIZED. convinced me to post this, so if you don't like it: It's all her fault! JK <3

I used Color Club Fashion Addict and imageplate M63 for stamping. The color combination is quite nice! The second picture is blurry to show the holo. The image isn't placed right on the nail, I know this.. I failed. Lol!

I got my prize from the contest at The Manicured Manatee in today! Whii! I won the spamapalooza contest, and this is my prize:

Ain't that just the cutest bottles ever?! I'll try to use them sometime soon, but I have a busy week ahead.. I want to take the time for these pretties!
